Infinity Ward never said anything because the Gaz/Ghost mistery is part of their franchise and helps sell games,comics etc. they created the mystery ON PURPOSE, this mystery will also help sell MW3 as its going to be all about Ghost/Gaz.

@BoredomHospital Craig Fairbrass who plays Ghost -Gaz said that Gaz is Ghost and Ghost is Gaz.
The whole "is he isnt he Ghost" is because the British S.A.S have a mythical reputation,reports of real S.A.S troops being dead but only to actualy be alive e.t.c e.t.c.
Gaz-Ghost is getting his own comic book,cartoon and possibly his own game acording to actor Craig Fairbrass who plays Gaz-Ghost

I hope there will be a next game - because the story end - but not end as well as there is one loose end that isn't finished yet by not seeing Zakhaev. (you know what I mean). And our buddies who go deeper underground it seems. It leaves an end open for a new game. But maybe ... Modern Warfare can change into Urban Warfare. A bit the movie "Kingdom" // "The Assasin"-style of warfare. On the hunt in modern or ancient, east or western cities.
