@Mrspankbank: I think the Time War is "Time-locked" and cannot be revisited and/or altered

this time war, the gap between 8-9th doctors, needs to be explained it's really the best way for the series to move on, if smith somehow ends up in the middle of the war stops his people and the daleks and master and then regenerates into the 12th.

@EDZEL2011 I should perhaps amend the 'will' to 'would'... since he wasn't actually confirming plans as such... lol.

@ctraver You could well be right! Certainly there is going to be a bit of a gap before the next series (autumn next year rather than spring - argh!) and the most recent statement from Moffatt about 'The Film' is that it will star the incumbent Doctor and will be made by the BBC. And Matt Smith was making enthusiastic noises about 3D, so I suspect there is something afoot. Smith also mentioned the Master... whoop! whoop! *Hopes*

@EDZEL2011 He didn't say we should never see it, rather, that it was best left to other media.
Last official statements from the BBC just a few weeks ago had the movie at the "We'd like to do this" stage of development. I personally suspect that it's much further along than this, and they want to make it a bit of a surprise when it drops on the 50th anniversary.

@ctraver i think the 8th doctor ended the war and later regenarted into 9th doctor so eccleston would be out of the question there but not a bad idea

This is brilliant! I love it - the 'regeneration' from Eight to Nine was extremely well done, even if his stance wasn't quite what we've become used to in 'New Who' - it got the message across and that's the main thing. Well done!
I can't help but wonder if the new Dr Who Movie might go back and address this missing adventure - I know RTD said we should never see it, that it's best left to the imagination, but IMHO we should see Eight's final moments...

@Mrspankbank There have been two known instances of the Time Lock being breached. One shattered the mind of Dalek Caan. The other The Doctor did everything he could to stop, and then when the Time Lords came through, he did everything he could to reverse their trip.
We already know that he faced this decision, and the guilt he feels over it. Actually showing it would be gratuitous. Maybe in a flashback if they can get McGann or Eccleston to come by. But not the current doctor going back

@Prinsgezindepatriot No, Time War was fought between Time Lords and Daleks. But after a while the TimeLords became as mad as the enemy's. they became cruel, like Rasilon. and corrupted. they realised in the final days, the daleks were to strong for them and that they were going to lose the war so their plan was to destroy the whole universe and become some non-corporeal collective consciousness that would be the only sentient form of life in existence. They doctor had no choice then to kill them.
Does the Doctor Series actually show the Time War

No, a lot of fans like to speculate though! One theory is that the "Classic Series" leads up to the Time War in the same way as the "New Series" follows on from it.
