Until 1984, all diesels were 2.2 liter "L" units and were only offered on 2WD models.
It was in that year that the 2.4L "2L" diesel would be used, and was made available for 4WD models as well; for 1985, turbocharging was added (96 hp as opposed to the normally aspirated 2L's 87 hp), but would be the swan song for all diesel Toyota trucks sold in the USA, and '85 was also the last year for the solid-axle 4WD models.

I would be interested to purchase your toyota diesel pickup if you havent sold it already.
Looking forward to hearing from you, I wish you the very best.

i had one like that, nice motor sound. very strong small motor

@rvndmnmt Run a tank of biodiesel through it, it swells the seals shut that shrink due to the new ULSD fuel since 2007. Works every time. Three of my own vehicles have been fixed this way, definitely cheaper than all new seals in the pump

the 22r engine was great, but a diesel now might be all right!! NICE TRUCK!!
If everything is original, that's in damn good condition. Did you swap out the 22R for a diesel engine, or did the diesel come stock? I have the same exact year/model but with chrome bumper and grill and in white. I was wondering if it's possible to swap the 22R out for a chevy 350 small block?

I have just purchased the same model with 203,000 miles. It runs well, but I am trying to find a good source of parts. Any recommendations? Thanks.

what parts do you need?

they are very rare, but once in a blue moon someone list them on Ebay or Craigslist, most of these trucks are rusted, so it will be worth it to pay top dollars if you find it in the west coast ,
