This is insightful. Just take note, everyone is not you. Print media will die a slow death. Young people want what they want & want it now-they prefer sound bites. Web news can be personalized-hence the popularity. For the more cerebral that is a deterrent. We tend to process info from a variety of sources and make connections. I never know what discipline my next idea will come from. The "scan" method also works very well for me.

Achtung Bangkok Calling!
YouTube is the new on-line university. You register by clicking on - simply clicking on. And thi is a good clip. " To press the lift button more than once..."
Wow! Good anecdote. ( Not antidote) DO NOT PRESS THE LIFT BUTTON MORE THAN ONCE!

Books will not die.

Perhaps some people do need to read newspapers. Free newspapers are very useful on the Tube (underground) to pass the time. But I doubt that most people will continue to pay for newspapers in the future. I find most news online. I don't buy a newspaper unless they are also giving away a free mug or an interesting dvd.

I agree on the books. But for newspapers?
I pay 2 dollars for news from yesterday.
And I get news from now free.
I agree that human beahiour is not always rational, but there are limits in behaving irrationally too.

Paper will survive, same as vinyl records :) SOME people are emotionally connected to it. If you want to predict future, look at young generation...
Since this video was added by me 3 years ago, we have seen continued dramatic growth of newspapers in countries like India, a bloodbath among newspapers in developed nations, and of course, meteoric rise in news-bites devoured with mobile devices. A big challenge with decline of newspapers is that our society is getting fed bits of news rather than deeper analysis. More data, less insight.

Please do comment and rank this video - it really helps other people find what is helpful. With 11 million users of my pages it can take a little while for me to catch up but I do try to reply to most things. Patrick Dixon
