It recently became popular by being featured in the trailer for "Battle: Los Angeles"
(really? why do all movies take place in L.A.?)

@clementcva there was no actual battle that took place. the movie was based upon the events of Feb. 24, 1942. several unidentified objects were spotted in the skies off the coast of la so the air force fired upon these objects killing three civilians and damaging many buildings. the air force's official position today is that a "weather balloon" was mistaken for emeny aircraft. many people believe that it was extraterrestrial life forms but this has never been proven.
