great work. but he's a mouthbreather.

just one question: when you plug drum individual outs does the monotribe output spit just the synth part? And, if I don't plug jacks to the drum outputs does the monotribe output keep sending just the synth part or it returns to the "default" settings? sorry for my english, hope I was clear enough!

Excellent work. Two great new machines

I guess the part that confuses me is the "frame out" and "noise out". I do see that you mentioned this. I just need more clarification about where to connect these and what there purpose is. So "sd frame" for instance...do I connect this to the same part of the jack as the "snare out"? Sorry I'm a noob! Thanks in advance. (and sweet op-1)

Clever - using VGA cable for breakout box. ( So what does it do when you plug that into a monitor? ) Mod onward! ;-) But more explanation about what is actually happening here would be welcome?

Love the video. The two most lusted after prices of gear .. synced :) I was wondering if you could post photos of the monotribe pc board
It seems that the only mods online are the bass drum decay
Is that it ...?
I will post a follow up with some close up pics of the PCB tomorrow, meant to do it sooner but I have been doing uni work.

MrMeddled: um, you could wire each drum to a single jack, but not all outputs to one jack without having some sort of basic summing circuit before the jack. As for grounding, there are a number of well labelled grounds inside the mono. All of my outputs go out along individual wires of the VGA cable, then all the grounds come back through the VGA along a single ground where they are soldered to a pcb ground point. I would not leave the grounds for the outs un-attached as I think you are asking?

Also, regarding the drum output mod: as you can see the snare is comprised of two separate sounds, a pitched 'body' tone and a short shot of white noise. On the monotribe circuit board these have separate decay outputs. The body of the snare responds well to a similar resistance range as the kick, but the noise does not. Still working on the right values for the high hat too. My plan is to have a simple op amp summing stage and volume controls outputting a mono summed drum signal which can then

I have found that it is necessary to tweak the sync output gain to make things play nicely. Use the monotribe tempo knob as a gauge of the inputted sync signal strength, it will flicker in time to the inputted voltage. If you are getting no sync, turn up the sync signal gain on the op1, if you are getting double triggering your sync signal is too loud.
