Security guard's thumb severed in violent Docklands attack - 14.04.2009

A SECURITY guard has told of the trauma of having his thumb severed in a violent attack involving 15 men.
"Craig", 37, was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital where he underwent surgery to reattach his thumb after the violent attack on Enterprise Way, Docklands at 3.40am on Sunday.

"I had my hand up and a machete severed my thumb from my hand, just below the knuckle. It just held on by a bit of skin," Craig said.

"If I hadn't stopped the machete with my hand I would have been hit in the face somewhere."
