@TheCitdog In my opinion the most accurate depiction of the events leading up to the Battle of Fort Wagner can be found in a novella by Clinton Cox by the name of Undying Glory. And glory should be well desrved in the brave men of the 54th Massachusetts. They overcame many struggles such as racism from their officers. They also fought knowing that...and this is a fact; that if captured in federal uniform they could be executed by hanging or firing squad. They made the enlistment of 180,000 men
@TheCitdog I'm sorry I help reenact the Charleston batallion. Just because the 54th fought for the North doesn't make them scum. Also, the Confederates had a black soldier at Wagner I've found in my research. Must have been ironic.
How about a video of the Charleston Battalion slaughtering this COERCING scum on the beach in front of BATTERY WAGNER. If you are interested in what REALLY happened in July 1863 pick up E. Milby Burton's, the former curator of the Charleston Museum the oldest Museum in the 'late united states', book The Siege of Charleston. Burton's book is the preeminent work on the 587 day siege of the most beautiful city in the New World.
This was good but 2 points to make the soldiers looked mostly white and none were very dark. And secondly if their charging forward the flags should be going the other way.
@goofball33 the only whites would have been company commanders and rank up
