Renault 5 TL - used in reconstruction of assassination

My Renault 5 TL was filmed in 2004 for a reconstruction of the assassination (in 1994) of a notorious art thief, Martin Cahill, by the IRA.

This film is excerpts taken from the "Masterminds" episode "The Dublin Job".

I played the assassin - you can see me standing by the side of the road and subsequently shooting him.

Originally, Cahill would probably have driven a Mk II (Super) 5, but I was available with my Mk I TL!

He was searched by the Gardaí daily. If the Gardaí had found so much as a razor-blade on him, he'd have been arrested.

He was claiming the dole and pretending he was unemployed. If he'd moved, he'd have to explain where he found the funds to do so.

And the I.R.A. can find anyone, anywhere. MI5 couldn't hide I.R.A. informers, for example, in any country. According to a British government report, the I.R.A. killed more than 95% of informers.
