NB - I know these are actually WD2 and not WD1 as stated - slip of the tongue. Well, this is the latest project of mine, restoring these two lovelies. To be honest I was just hoping to get one of them working, as between them they seem to be able to make one serviceable engine. Maybe in future I'll get around to doing the other one, but I'll need a bit more mechanical nouse with these things than I have now.

  • very nice engine and picture too

  • @enginelover1 Hi, thanks for your comment. She looks a lot better now in her original Wolseley grey with red trim. The governor has been freed up, the cylinder head de-coked, gaskets replaced, a new water drain is being made by a friend, and she's been generally cleaned up internally. I've yet to put things back together again and build a trolley, but things are progressing nicely. There may be another video of this WD2 in a few weeks or so. Thanks again.

  • wot camera do u use????

  • @mrstuart143 Hi. Its a JVC Everio GZ-HD620BEK.

  • As said, Slow it down it aint nice seeing it run that fast lol!

Also fully richen the mixture by the lever and then turn the flywheel to compression and flick it over then the impulse should help it to start straight away. The clanking at the beggining is the impulse working

  • @cornishadz Hi, Thanks for your comment. Yes, I think there is a problem with the governor, whichever way the speed knob is turned makes no difference, pulling it out makes no difference either. I think the governor is either set incorrectly, or the spring is broken or disconnected at one end allowing full speed at all times. As I say, Im a total beginner, and I have some digging around for information to do before I tackle this next problem. Thanks again.

  • Hey mate, the brass plate with the specs on it in the photo you mailed me said the speed is 1000 rpm, that looks like 1000 rpm to me, I don't think theres much wrong there to be honest, if it is more than 1000 rpm then it's certainly not by very much. it doesn't sound like it's revving so hard it'll throw the rod or anything, I'd leave him be and finish painting him. these things are old mate and there are bound to be little discrepancies here and there, he sounds just fine.

  • hahah look at the mad professor in his white coat, great to see you mate and well done on the engine.

  • @hanomagman Many thanks Jarno, that is helpful information. I'll give it another run today and try to lean it out as much as I can and get the RPM down.

    Your English is excellent.

    Many thanks once again. Steven.
