Shoot the boxes before you pick up the machine gun, if you pick up the machine gun before shooting boxes, the boxes have a chance of dropping machine gun ammo. Machine gun ammo sells 1 for 1. Shooting the boxes first eliminates the chances of ammo dropping for a MG and makes the chance for more gold greater.
