It's just that they discovered their bottom line was filled by selling very basic cars but loaded with features whereas Lexus sells very advanced and mostly rear-drive cars that are completely overloaded with luxury features for a hefty premium. We should be getting a new Cressida, Chaser Mark V, Mark X, etc. and even if it bombed there were also interesting cars like the Verossa. Toyota Japan gives a buyer variety but in the USA it's a "poorest to richest" tiered business model.

Yes, you are right... I just bought the car last week. I live in Okinawa, Japan. Absolutely, this is a luxury Toyota car. Toyota gets the US market in the worst way... :/

This car looks good. Good enough to be a luxury Toyota (something unheard of in the USA outside of a Lexus). Toyota gets the US market... in the worst way possible.
