@rbbonotto That is interesting, in a way Sellars is the slightly wrong note in this film. Keaton appeared in a Beckett scripted film called 'Film' around the same time, I have read the book but not seen the whole film. There are some distant similarities.
Only seen this once or so but a memorable atmospheric film with Sellars underplaying rather than overplaying. Shot mainly around Battersea near the river. I have some photos of this area from 1980 and it still looked somewhat like in this film, changed greatly now though.
The britmovie website says that the role was originally intended for Danny Kate; that may have been true later, but the writer-director Simmons, interviewed in the documentary "Keaton: A Tough Act to Follow" relates that he wanted Buster Keaton to do it in the 60's, but couldn't convince any film company to bankroll the project with Keaton. Which is pretty sad.
