I have 2 children who were born in USA and I always encourage them to learn English and Spanish because I'm sure that in the future you'll need to be at least a bilingual or trilingual to succed in this country. So I feel sorry for those who don't want to learn English, Spanish,Chinese or any other language as a second language. Unless you are retarded you are excused for not learning a second language.

They are not trying to pass. The system passes them. Schools should flunk them and see how quickly they'll start learning.
That is a good motivator but if the system passes them and you try to impose the Language on them that's not gonna work. Also you know very little about citinzenship. You kids need to learn another language,forget who doesn't speak English. You learn another language.

The guy to the right looks Hispanic, is a shame if you are that your parents didn't reinforce it at home. I live in Florida, in Miami, everybody speak Spanish so English country only, I doubt it. Many older people coming to this country it is very difficult for them to learn English. In the future Hispanics are going to be mayority here so Spanish a plus.
