@addman43 Up here in Canada we aren't as fortunate to get military surplus ammo. The best civilian ammo to shoot through it is 150gr. FMJ (equivalent to Ball ammunition). And like WWII man stated in his vid...make sure its 30-06 SPRG
i recently purchase a springfield m1 made in 1948. i have lots of weapon expereince 20 yrs in army dont know much about these though. what is the best ammo to shoot in these. i dont want to destroy it

Well first off thank you for your service.. i am going to join the army in september... i shoot military surplus ammo in mine.. the best place to find it is odcmp(DOT)com.. should be able to find some high quality non corrosive ammunition there. or check out a reputable gun shop near you.. they might have it shooting modern stuff in it will mess up your rifle. it can bend the op-rod and break the receiver. Mine is springfield made in '43.
