That's a long time for a snake. I had a corn snake just pass away at the age of 20 years.

Thanks so much for replying! We had an almost 6' long male living in a hole under some brush in our neighbor's yard that we were worried about. We have 4 kids under the age of 4 between our two homes & that snake was going back & forth between our yards. We managed to get him in a canvas bag & took him down to the river where I think he wondered up from to start with. I think he was coming up for our geckos but hopefully we scared him off.

@Nina1972 Actually they eat rodents, birds and other small mammals. They do not have a gecko diet. At least i have never heard of or seen that!

They strike when threatened. They are great for rodent control. I consider them good snakes to have them around umless you have bird houses etc. They eat many birds and rodents alike. They will draw blood especially on a small child but they are not going to try and constrict a baby. All they want it to be left alone. Some of them (although not very commonly) will tame down where they can bve effictively handles without striking.

We've seen these around here in Fort Worth. When they bite, does it hurt & are they dangerous to small children? I have 2 toddlers & noticed these were constrictors & they're very strikey as you said in the video :) Thanks!
