Fender John Mayer Stratocaster, Deluxe Reverb (Clapton, Old Love)

Sorry for the boring slide show but I laid this down pretty quickly. It's Eric Clapton's Old Love. I'm not happy with the lead but, hey, this vid was made so you can hear what this strat sounds like with a Reissue Fender Deluxe Reverb. And that's pretty awesome imo. Noticeably different than when I plug it into my Blues Deluxe Reissue. If you want to hear what that amp sounds like with this strat, look at the other video I uploaded earlier today. (Whenever I buy a new guitar, I just want to play for hours!)

Rig: Fender John Mayer Stratocaster to a Reissue Deluxe Reverb w/ JJ tubes (sounds waaaay better than with stock GTs). A 6 ft DiMarzio audio cable was used.

Neck PU. Volume and Tone was set to 10 the entire time so you can hear the pure unadulterated tone. Guitar was plugged into the Reverb channel of the amp.

pretty badass man - thanks for giving a pure demo of the amp. WAY better than the blues deluxe. Couple questions: How loud can you get the deluxe reverb before it starts to break up? If you wanted a really clean sound would you be sacrificing voume?

as far as the knobs are concerned, i think it starts to break up at around 4. it's loud enough for the home. if you're in a band, you might want to look for something a bit louder.

Outstanding tone. Can I ask what setting are on your amp and if you're using any boxes? I sent you a separate question for the same on your Blues deluxe I also have both and just bought a Fender VM combo after seeing a the NAMM 09. Thanks GREAT TONE you have.

no boxes. that's why i think it sounded so good. new strings and only a short cable between gtr and amp.... i don't remember what the settings were but i usually leave treble at 7.5 and bass at 4.5.

stock. only thing that is non stock are the jj tubes which also noticeably change the sound for the better imo.

hey dude nice playing. I just got myself a john mayer strat and also a hand-wired vibroverb custom amp with the diaz mods. AND WOW! I've never owned a fender amp before, and the tone is freaky amazingly sweet! Great tones you have here aswell. keep rockin! I'll stick up a vibroverb / mayer strat video soon. :-)

Personally sounds great to me.
