Can someone please explain to me why Bartoli only sings in Zurich and is not singing in all the major theathers? Isn't she being hired in those anymore? And.... how come isnt she singing the salieri roles like Damrau? That is something I certainly dont understand...

She will sing in Rome's auditorium two Vivaldi Concertos in September. So far she is engaged four 4 years and she cannot take in consideration any other additional offer.

I respectfully disagree. I love Ms. Battle's performance but I think Cecilia's musicality comes over with much more ease. She uses way more colours in her interpretation. I love em both though!

I totally agree with you, even though I like Battle very much. I cannot forget her interpretation in the Corontation Mass of Mozart directed by Karajan in the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome, where I was present, by coincidence, at this very performance. I did have posted a clip here few month ago.

I wont comment Bartoli's singing, because there is nothing I can say better than she does with her voice! She's just perfect!

But I must say that I like the interpretator's idea in the orchestra! The ricochet and the continuo are just amazing!!! :)

Excellent! She really seems to lighten up her voice so she doesn't seem like a truck rumbling thru Handel.

@prosdocimo it has much to do with the fact that they give her what ever production she desires and the house is small which suits her relatively small voice.

@prosdocimo well and also she does have a smaller voice so filling huge halls is difficult for her, so she has to consider that option as well as she is a mezzo singing mostly soprano rep which can be strenuous, needing a smaller hall to project through

I don't understand why this is so god-awful SLOW! Cecilia usually takes things over-the-top trademark SPEEDY GONZALEZ FAST, so why did she do this to this beautiful aria... it sounds like walking through molasses, then chipmunk fast!
