The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic structure; a symbol of San Francisco, the West, freedom -- and something more, something spiritual, something words cannot describe.

The director and crew spent an entire year focusing on the Bridge. Running cameras for almost every daylight minute, they documented nearly two dozen suicides and a great many unrealized attempts. In addition, the director captured nearly 100 hours of incredibly frank, deeply personal, often heart-wrenching interviews with the families and friends of the departed, as well as with several of the attempters themselves.

THE BRIDGE is a visual and visceral journey into one of life's gravest taboos, offering glimpses into the darkest, and possibly most impenetrable corners of the human mind.

They camera crew actually had the bridge patrol on speed dial and they managed to save 23 lives from filming this. I just watched the whole thing on TV. Disturbing but at the same time moving. It's a shame...

I have been there so many times and it never occurred to me that so many people use it to end their life. I am no one to judge them nor do i intend to, but it is a shame that people feel that something is so hard that the only option is death...Rest in peace to all of those who have ended their life too soon...

the Camera had motion sensors, so there wasn't just people there recording them.

@sirscoolrascal go on, elaborate... whats the profoundness? the depth of exploring the taboo of death and killing yourself? LIFE AFTER DEATH, u could read that book, or LIFE AFTER LIFE... another... what do u think of NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES? i've heard that overwhelmingly, if not ALL of suicides go QUITE BADLY in the after life as per their recounting upon return from their suicidal NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE... its one of the reasons i have an extra reason to avoid suicide...
