It's been awhile since I've uploaded any new videos and that's mostly been because I've been dealing with real-life. I've had a lot of questions about the LoM project being dead and that is a resounding NO.

To that end, Trevor and I have been working on separating out the low-level framework code which we've dubbed NAS2D (http://nas2d.newagesoftware.org). It occured to me that our OpenGL rendering mode should allow me to make direct OpenGL calls to render 3D scenes in addition to our pure 2D mode.

And, viola. This was something I threw together in just a few minutes... I even got some basic lighting in just to test it and see what happens. The results? A perfect combination of accelerated 2D rendering with the ability to render 3D scenes with OpenGL. As a side note, this trick will not work in pure software mode.

Anyway, this was an experiment to see what we can do with NAS2D as our backbone for handling events, sound mixing, logic, states, resources, etc. so we can worry about developing a simple 3D game that we've been consulting on. It's a project called Destiny of the Sword (http://anet.dnsalias.org/hns/). It's a fun idea and something we wanted to help out with.

Anyway, I thought I'd stick this here just to show progress.

Oh, as a second note, this program was built with the stand-alone NAS2D framework... :)

The Legend of Mazzeroth is a 2D open-source RPG/MMORPG project that's been in development since February of 2008. Originally based on The Mana World, LoM dumped that code base and started a new code base, entitled New Age, in September of 2008. I decided once there was enough material to record to video I would chronicle the development of LoM by recording short clips of each test phase.
