In July 2000, Philadelphia hosted the Republican Convention, and Union Pacific sent most of its passenger fleet to be used as a hotel for special guests. The train traveled the River Line and came down the Trenton Line led by CSX power.
the UP Officer vitage fleet, it used to be the train set for the City San Francisco right? Also, why is a CSX engine pulling the train, cant the F Unit handle it?
this video confirms my belief that CSX execs are a bunch of sniveling brats. NS would've let UP run their rails solo (as they do all over the south east)

DAS,
The 4 axle GE's are lighter and for this run would consume less fuel. Plus the six axle power (GE and EMD) is slower on the take-off.

Kj, yes that's a K5LA. Sad that they're gradually being displaced by the newer K5LLA and K3LLA horns, which sound similar but dischorded.

CSX was providing extra horsepower as the UP OCS train was longer than usual.

The CSX engine that was pulling that train sounded like it had a K5LA horn on it, like most of Amtrak's current locomotives that pull their trains.
