New Delhi, Nov 15, 2009: Ven. Geshe Lhakdor la, former translator and interpreter of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and who is currently working in the position of Director at Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamsala visited the World Buddhist Center, New Delhi on Nov 15, 2009 to talk on Essence of the Buddhas Teachings for young Tibetans residing in and around South Delhi.
This talk was organized by Empowering the Vision Project (ENVISION) in collaboration with World Buddhist Center. This was first of the series of talks by imminent Tibetan scholars and personalities to young Tibetans in South Delhi planned and organized by ENVISION. ENVISION plans to holds more of such talks in future.
Around 50 young Tibetans, especially Tibetans working in Indian organisations and non-Tibetan environment participated in the talk. Tea and refreshments was sponsored by Tenzin Yangzom and Tenzin Palzom, working at New Delhi in Indian organizations.
Ven. Geshe Lhakdor la in his talk emphasized the role of mind in cultivating happiness as per Buddhas teaching relating the teachings of Buddhist masters with daily life experiences. He spoke on the concept of combining head and heart. His talk also highlighted the practical application of Buddhas teaching in anger management. He advised the participants to take interests in reading the literary works of Buddhist masters, especially His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Geshe la also spoke on the special responsibilities of young Tibetans in understanding and practicing the teachings.
A Q&A session after Geshe las talk was also held.
Geshe la agreed to visit and give talk on selected topics of Buddhas teachings as and when he is in the city. ENVISION plans to bring more of such interactive talks on Buddhas teachings and mind management for young Tibetans in Delhi.
