Prepared by Truppi Kling Competition out of New Jersey, this Chevelle was driven to countless victories in 1970 and 1971 by its skilled driver Ray Allen. A record setting Super Stock racer, it was known for its crowd-thrilling wheels-up launches before its continued dominance prompted Chrysler Corporation to produce two specially prepared Plymouth Superbirds in an unsuccessful attempt to unseat Allen from his throne. The fact that it was born an exceptionally rare LS6 Convertible is all the more remarkable and renders this car one of the most prized treasures of drag racing history. This car will be offered at RM Auctions Icons of Speed & Style event at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California on September 26th.
