I love this song. It was composed and written by a young and talented kibbutznik from Beit Hashita, Yossef Sarig, in 1972 for the 5th anniversary of the city's reunification.
One year later Yossef Sarig was killed on the last battle of the Yom Kippur War. He was a tank commander, died at age 29, leaving a widow and 2 young infants.
From the day I heard his story I never felt the same person again. It is so terribly sad. Such a talent, such a young age.
