I need to get this. The Graphics are AWESOME! (The sound's not bad either!)

@g8crapachino he could have played it on a Apple IIGS with System 6. Dunno if there was a System 7 for the IIGS
-
@Dynamite9500 You played it on a Mac, not an Apple II.
After all these year people still can't comprehend the fact that "Apple II" and "Mac" were two entirely different computer platforms, but both made by Apple.
-
@freeculture That's the original. The game was created on apple II and later ported on other platforms.
I think Mechner started to work on it just after Karateka (in 1985). There are some videos of his brother performing the movements of the character on Youtube.

I am very impressed at the number of ports this game had, and how well it used whatever you had. The PC version, from 1990, could use anything from hercules monochrome and pc speaker to VGA and Sound Blaster, and yes, EVERYTHING in the middle, including tandy sound, cms, adlib, cga, ega, whatever. This game fitted a single 3 1/2" floppy and would run happily from it. Seeing how well it performs in the Apple II and other 8 bit systems is plain amazing.
A worthy Karateka successor.

how do you played this game?

@Dynamite9500 . If you played it on system 7 then it WAS NOT an Apple II.
...all these years and people still can't comprehend that Apple used to make a different computer called the "Apple II" long before they made the first Mac.

Oh the memories... I played this version a loooong time ago on my mac, and after that I only had PoP 2 (which was also great) but I always missed the original. Thanks

i hate that some of the newer versions made the prince blonde… he's a fucking persian ! so is the princess… this game is truly well done
Both Karateka and Prince of Persia were created by Jordan Merchner. They have similar art styles too.

@goglue666: I don't know why you would say this. This is EXACTLY how Prince of Persia looked on the Apple II. I have played the Apple II version myself on an actual Apple IIc (no emulator, the actual machine), and so I know this video is 100% accurate.
There's no doubt it pushed the limits of the capabilities of the Apple II, though. I was SHOCKED when I saw the opening screen for the first time in the 80s. I'd never seen an Apple II game look that good and fluid before.
