[HD] Flandre's Christmas Light Show [Flan-Wing Lights]

Here are my custom StepMania lights in their newest installment (taped to my wall) to resemble the crystals on one of Flandre's wings, and I added a horizontal mirror to make the second wing. I made a simfile specifically for the 8 lights, just like I did back on Cirno Day.

NOTE: If the video lags, please DON'T play it in HD. Smooth playback is much more important than high resolution for this video.

I know that the lights don't perfectly match up with the crystals on the drawing (by Kiyomin), but I thought of overlaying a drawing AFTER I'd set up the lights, and I couldn't really move them because I'd measured the wires to be only as long as needed. I never thought I'd stumble upon even this good a picture of her (position-of-the-crystals-wise) - and she's even wearing Christmassy clothes! So although they don't line up perfectly, I thought it would be a wasted opportunity to leave out the drawing.

The tune is to the theme of Flandre Scarlet (extra-stage boss in Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil), called "U.N. Owen Was Her?". Unfortunately, I don't know the name (or even artist) of this Christmas-style arrangement of it. I found it here (there's an MP3 link in the video description too): watch?v=dCh1LylWUSI

@12ZELDALINK: I'm afraid I didn't make the music itself. Just wired the circuits for the lights, coded a program to control them, and made all the timings for the lights to turn on/off.

I couldn't find the source of the music. Even though I could find several videos which used it, no-one credited the artist, and I'm ashamed to say that I've become one of those people, but not by my own choice, if it's of any consolation.

Cool stuff! Would you mind going into what hardware you used a bit? I'm working on making a room lighting system with high output LEDs, and an Arduino driving a few TLC5940 chips... in theory it should be able to do something like this, though I'm going more for straight-up programmable room lighting. Also a Touhou fan though, so this is awesome...

It doesn't switch faster than 30 milliseconds reliably, because it's not meant for this purpose, but when I first made the lights, that was all I had. (My netbook doesn't have an LPT port, and I needed something portable.) I do have an Arduino now, so making a sketch which can switch the lights at a decent speed sounds like a good idea.

What an amazing coincedence that you're also a Touhou fan! If you need any more info, just ask =)
