Mustang with horrible engine knock

i bought this piece 2001 mustang for 2 grand. ive had to put another 2 grand into it (including new engine and later a new trans) dont buy off craigslist friends, problems hide other problems, like a bad clutch and throwout bearing hid an engine knock, which shortly after turned into this. what i think caused this ultimately though, the plug wires were mixed up on one side of the engine.

@FoxyWolfProductionz bought it like that, i needed a car quick and the price seemed right. I've been using a $50 kiwi-mpg set on speed mode. It's cool that I have a digital speedo, but it's useless in sunlight. 46 comments and only 1 person noticed the speedo haha

I would just junk the motor not worth fixing we had a chevy 350 small block that did the same thing. Poor craftsmenship u can buy another motor cheap and its ur rod hitting ur valve cover. Cause it sounds like it already blew ur lifter

@xXJegs1320Xx We put another motor in very shortly after that. I didn't even realize that's what was going on, wow. We don't know the cause of this, it happened right after we bought the car, and we bought it running like crap.  Is there any way that mixed up spark plug cables for a long time could do this?

I bought a 99' Mustang off Craig'slist and after putting oil in the car (because the previous owner had none in it) and replacing the battery, It over heats fast as hell now. This was 1 month ago. Now the oil is black....
