When we did our capsize test, we capsized. We had to throw our blades away in front of us and the boat literally turned upside down and you go with it! They're throwing themselves out!!! tee hee hee :)

i had to teach myself how to this on the starting line of a race. cause the wind and the waves were too fierce 3 other boats capsized with me

haha, we never learned how to capsize! They just waited for us to do it ourselves! :D

i swear you're just supposed to throw your blades away and capsize otherwise you're putting too much [pressure on the riggers...
-
Haha its totally important to learn how to get back in though...flipping is bound to happen eventually :(
-
why are you teaching them how to flip. I spend almost 1 month as a novie rower on a single and never fliped... retards
-
i dont really see the purpose to this. That is not how you flip. When you flip you are usually at the catch (the most unstable point) or you just caught a crab and the oar is being wrenched out of your hand and you slam into the water. Practice the real thing!

its actually really really easy to get back into a sculling boat. for me anyway.
Deep water remount is a strange one, you either get it first time or it's really difficult. What I teach is that you should try it, but if you can't get it first time, climb onto the stern canvass and kick the scul to the bank like a surfboard. If you spend a long time trying to remount and failing, you are getting more and more tired and cold - real killers, even in a warm water environment. Happy rowing!
