Actually...the word that immediately comes mind is: Cheap. Unfortunately, the Phillies were cursed with a LONG string of cheap owners who refused to put the best team they could on the field. Unlike, say...the Spanks.

It's just a shame though that those Phillies back in the late 70's would fall short to the Dodgers.

Well, I know that Dallas Green did not come cheap to the Phillies, not with his Baseball Intelligence. And what about Steve Carlton?

I'm sure that the Phillies owners were not always cheap back then.  Now? I can see Poor Ownnership, considering that they are not trying to advance the Team to a New Level, after winning the NL East.

I agree. I haven't been very happy with the Phils' off-season thus far. I actually hoped that being in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years(!) would've given the cheapo owners the motivation needed to open up the purse strings a little. Okay, so maybe Johan Santana may be a *little* out of their price range, but come on...

Believe me, I have kept "An Eagle Eye" on this Off-Season, and so far, the Phillies have not done anything Earth Shaking so far.

Seriously, you now have a strong contender for the Playoffs. Start digging deep into your Wallets, and do something right for a change! OPEN UP YOUR CHECK BOOKS!! HOW HARD IS IT TO COMPREHEND?!

It just seems like the Phillies are just not that serious in returning to the Playoffs.

Don't be mistaken; J-Roll and company are dead serious in returning to the playoffs - and getting past the first round. The knuckleheaded owners are a different story...

Swordlady72, I know how Gut-Wrenching this was to watch, as a Phillies Fan, but thank you, for being Woman enough to actually post this on You Tube.

I hope that you're right. Maybe, the Phillies will go deeper in the playoffs in 2008. But, just remember this. Last year, the Mets choked away the Division. Next year they may not do so. That is something Phillies Management has to keep in mind, in trying to advance the Team.
