I always wondered how does chivalry=respect? I was taught by my dad that respect is earned so how does that not apply to women and why should women get chivalry or respect for not doing anything?

As far as I'm concerned, chivalry is cool for the girlfriend or maybe common curtosy but that's it. And people in general have to earn my respect
