  • conservatives are racists

  • What is wrong with you? Seriously. "Leave Audra alone?" Look, Facebook isn't her home. And yes, you can be yourself. But their are consequences.

And this stuff about your blackness and liberalism somehow qualifying your comments....bull.

One of the reasons why blacks and others were oppressed was b/c of this empathy with the oppressor. You have to be vigilant. Freedom isn't free.

  • 40-45 percent? Nah, that's way too high.

  • Dems have ALOT of racist too, just as much if not more than the GOP, but they hide it well cause they run most of the media and School system. Thats the facts...

  • I appreciate your apology. I'm not as dumb as I appear in a text response. I appreciate your feedback on the issue of slavery even though we slightly disagree :)! Disagreements spur depth in conversations :)!

  • Okay April, I apologize because I've been in a rude mood all day long. I do think that we slightly disagree, but I've been ruder to you than I actually have to be.

So sorry! Blame it on the new year and just my innate b*tchiness!

  • Why are you answering your own question and still not getting it?

    Let's try this...

slavery = money and cash flow

Civil War = money and cash flow of slavey states

    slavery = civil war

Get it?! I'm not saying that the Republicans were in love with the slaves. I'm saying that there was an anti-slavery support by the Republicans, plain and simple. I'm saying that the point of the civil war was, not solely but primarily, slavery.

  • States' rights was not a new idea, but the reason it was used as a point of contention was that pro-slavery states worried that new Western states would be allowed to prohibit slavery, which would gradually eat away at the slave states. They seceded in order to protest anti-slavery sentiments among Republicans.

  • Here's the question: Why did the states secede? SLAVERY!

They didn't leave b/c America was being mean to them! LOL

  • The slave states were seceeding b/c of SLAVERY. Lincoln and the Republicans were against slavery being legalized beyond the states that already had it.

The purpose of the civil war was NOT to keep the states together. The purpose of the civil war was for the North to establish dominance over states that wanted to separate from the Union.

  • Abraham Lincoln, upon his election, determined that preservation of the Union was critical, regardless of cost and legality. Not long after this, the Civil War began.

The purpose of the Civil War depends greatly on the perspective. The war could be argued to be about states' rights; in trying to prohibit states from leaving the Union through force, the Northern war campaign could be said to be illegal.

  • n 1861, many of the Southern states began to secede. President Buchanan maintained that while it was illegal for states to secede, it was also illegal to use military force to prevent it, and so he did nothing.
