In preparing students for a changing world, ASU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is redefining liberal arts education. With many transdisciplinary schools that are unique in the world, including the School of Social Transformation, "we are educating students for jobs not yet conceived, for using technologies not yet invented, to solve problems not yet recognized," says Quentin Wheeler, ASU vice president and dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Through the study of history, culture, literature, politics, film, science, and economics, students learn to challenge conventional wisdom about gender and understand its impact. Internship and leadership opportunities in business, government and nonprofit organizations, for example, allow students to pursue experiences aligned with their career goals.
