I know it's in the 10 commandments to honor thy mother and father but I find that very hard to do. I come from a broken family, parents got divorced and pretty much abandoned my sister and myself. Haven't talked to either my mother or father in over 10 yrs, and when my sister died neither of my parents even knew or cared that she passed away only learning it happened by reading the obituaries in the news paper. So how do I honor my mother and father like it says to do in the 10 commandments?

You have to forgive your parents regardless of what they've done. Forgiving them doesn't justify anything they did to you, but it releases you from the spiritual bondage that unforgiveness creates. Jesus freely and openly forgives us, so it would not be right for us to do anything less for others. The bible is clear that if we don't forgive others, we won't be forgiven.

So, forgive your parents and anyone else, then move on with your life.

@arjmcf No it does not apply to them because if they truly loved Jesus they would not act they way that you have mentioned here. There is a great definition of what love is in the Bible . It's 1 Corinthians 13 verses 4-13. People can call themselves what ever they please but that doesn't make it true. I am sure you already know that. : ) God bless.

@firecharger whats wrong with magic as long as you realize it's just a little fun? Like the show My little pony the unicorns use magic, but the show has christian morals (on purpose or not) does it still make it satanic? I can see if you believe that celestia (the queen that rules over the land in the show) is god I can see how that would be idolization I just like the the show sure I put ponies on things (desktop themes etc) but NEVER will I love ponies or anything more than god
