CHAN:
Another of China's dissident bloggers was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday, in a trial that lasted less than half an hour.
Lu Gengsong was convicted of violating national security for publishing upwards of 200 Internet articles critical of the Chinese Communist Party.
Lu remained defiant in the courtroom, telling the judge that, "victory will belong to Democracy, not the communist regime."
Human rights activists in China are angered by what they believe is the unjust prosecution of their friend on phony charges.
[Wen Zenlin, Human Rights Supporter]:
"I think the inquest is very unfair. The case is not judged against the law. People fear the communist regime. No one agrees with the sentence and people were very angry about it."
Lu's defense lawyer, Mao Shaoping, is frustrated by the mock justice of the trial.
[Mao Shaoping, Lu's Defense Lawyer]:
"The sentence towards my client is not right. The judge didn't even listen to our defense."
Lu Gengsong was first arrested on September 29 of 2007.
