Brilliant!!.I have encountered countless narcissists in my life (mostly male), and I am an empath....However, many of them came from stable homes with two parents who doted on them to no end.My thinking is that perhaps because they were so spoiled and constantly the center of attention as children, they reach adulthood believeing that others should continue to meet their needs and wants because they still have that sense of entitlement from childhood. Just my opinion:)

Being an empath doesn't mean being a sucker.
Empath=awareness.

I married a dark soul 21 years ago, tricked, crushed and imprisoned. I always knew something was horribly wrong but not until now am I realizing my overwhelming sense of grieving all these years because I couldn't fix me.

@noordinarylife7 I absolutely agree! I have one person in my life who believes what I say about my ex who is a narc/psycho (and I think that's after the police were called by my daughter).
She said to me that she recently saw him, and he was so "nice" and "friendly" to her that she would never guess he's done the things he's done. My replies were: 1.) Sure, he's "nice" to everybody else; and 2.) He'll be anything and everything you want him to be. She seemed to "get it" then.

Allow me to point out that the most heinous crimes in history were not committed by sociopaths, but were committed by empaths, often enflamed in their passions and convinced of their righteousness.
Sociopaths are not properly accounted for by our society, you consider us monsters and fail to teach us ethic that do not rely on authoritarian edicts and the emotions that you experience. You are shocked when we do not feel as you feel, instead of understanding that we can not. It is not our failing

Narcissists have an abundance of empathy, they simply have none for other people. :p
I'm a sociopath, I would like to propose to you that your dark soul notion is flawed. Sociopaths lack the ability to feel certain emotions, emotional empathy, pity, compassion, shame, guilt, unselfish remorse, ect, but we are not necessarily immoral and unethical people, and we often do not meet the behaviorist definitions because they diagnose by symptoms found in criminals.
But empaths can commit many crimes

Thank you so much for explaining this question, having encountered my third narcissist I was starting to get a little pissed off and of a mind to break the pattern. Thank you so much. They come in low under the radar these bastards, insidious slime.

After 6 years I have just found out that I am in a relationship with a Narcissist. Yes, I also found out that I seem to be an Empath.
This knowledge has lightened up my life, because now I can see through all the past and present tricks of my partner, and have shown her everything I found.
I am going to try to see if this honesty can change her, as we both now know what is going on. Wish me luck. :)

@noordinarylife7 I agree. They are very clever at masking us. I was conned by one who pretended to be like me. Yet i was picking up the dark soul. I knew something was wrong with this guy. As an empath myself, this is most likely why i was repeatedly stalked as they are drawn to us. I was never in a relationship with one whatsover, but i can understand why they would be drawn to empaths. It's as if they have a need deep inside themselves.

@graveallure one aspect of it is that when we empaths havent explored yet what that means, & were still under the impression were 'overly hyper sensitive, weird,'etc. in trying 2find and figure ourselves out, in this case, i was attracted to the fact that he never got as worked up/overwhelmed as i did. At the time it seemed like he had achieved some sort of zen, peace, balance not to be overtaken by emotions & i might learn from him. In retrospect i now know he hadnt the capacity to feel at all!
funny i have a sister who claims to be an empath but shows extreme narcissitic behavoirs toward me and others that i am close with as well as other family members. how can she claim be an empath towards some people but narcissitic sociopath towards others.?

@shack0074 Anyway can say they are an empath. Sociopaths, psychopaths and so on are very good are "mirroring" people and pretending to be something they are not. For example my ex psychopath boyfriend pretended he was an empath. He even did a myers briggs type test which showed up that he was "empathic". When I finally spoke to my therapist about it he said psychopaths are very good at "feigning things" and would have done the test on the basis of what he wanted me to see.

@noordinarylife7 i totaly agree with that she had our councler fooled and we lasted 1 session cuz the councler wanted to go with what she said rather then why i said we were there!
shack0074 1 year ago
@shack0074 absolutely. they dont last in counselling because they dont think there is anything wrong with them in the first place. btw for those people who read these comments women are psychopaths too although I only put these videos up from my own experience as mine was a man. You might want to listen to the Dr George Simon Interviews I did They are quite enlightening.

I've come across many like that on Facebook & I've sussed them out. Many have BPD or are histrionics & are either overwhelmed by emotion or have no empathy at all. It's like they are in denial or deliberately trying to confuse us. These personality disorders are similar to psychopathy but on a milder level. I don't trust those EQ tests as they are self administered and don't require skill to get a high score as you would with an IQ test. Psychopaths rate themselves highly on these tests.
