Me playing along with the recordings of Baby Please Don't Go and Gloria by the group Them with Van Morrison. Both these tunes were released in 1964 or was it 1965.

The lead guitar in Baby Please Don't Go has always been one of my favorite guitar solos. Back then, the sound was mean and angry; today it still is.

Gloria is one of my favorite 3 chord classics. The pattern pretty much stays the same throughout the piece.

  • Muy bueno !!!!!!!

  • Had a band back in High School, 1964.

Played Gloria, Here Comes The Night, Mystic Eyes and Baby Please Don't Go.

    I played a Sunburst 1964 Fender Jaguar through a 1960 Fender Bassman.

Sold the Guitar about 5 years ago, it looked like SRV's #1 and still have the amp.

Played in alot of bands, but the Van tunes always got everyone up and dancing.

  • @jgstargazer

I have see many (most) of the guitar greats of the sixties/seventies.

I saw Them in Portage, Ind. back in the '67/''68 timeframe. They played both of these songs and the guitar player was awesome (a-w-e-s-o-m-e)!!

He didn't need Jimmy's help with anything, I can assure you. The riffs you are listening to were performed as well as Jimmy could perform them.

You are comparing two of the greats...

  • really nice - thanks for posting give me more-

  • G-L-O-R-I-A , Jailbreak! :D

Just kidding, this song's awesome, they both are, and both somewhat kinda have to do with AC/DC

  • flawless buddie

  • Great stuff. Legend has it that Jimmy Page played guitar in this recording - the 'Them' guitarist couldn't get it right.

  • great song baby please dont go , great!

  • thank you!

  • Songs from the '60s are the best. Wish new bands would spring up and start coming out with new songs with the same beat and creativity as they did in the '60s.
