This is a video of us visiting our ancestral homeland, Puning, Teochew(Manderin:Chaozhou) in Canton(Guangzhou) province. It has been 10 years since our last time visit here.

  • A history professor in China told me, the teochews migrated south during the Northern Song period from Henan. We were originally Henan residents. Can anyone verify this? My Chinese sucks, cannot read historical text from their National library.

  • @eisenyeo Consider the fact that human migration is common for all societies, esp. to places where land and resources are abundant, this is a rational choice that all human make; migrate to a better place. Near the end of Northern Song, there were constant wars and invasion took place in Northern China, so its very likely that many Northern residents had decided to migrate south, but not all though; some of them intermarried with local indigenous people of Guangdong and Hokkien.

  • I am Pure Teochew breed .. Paternal Side from Pu-Ning, Maternal Side from Swatow.. I am born in Singapore, speaks Teochew.. going to meet relatives in China for 2nd time on 2nd Jan 2012

Its better you use Chinese classical music instead of the Western music...just a suggestion...As it seems so out of place...???
