The 2.2 Second Drop Tower at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio drops experiments in free fall to create microgravity conditions just like on the International Space Station (ISS) or Shuttle. In the drop tower, though, those conditions last only 2.2 seconds (5 seconds in the larger tower). The orange box is the drag shield which surrounds the experiment to block air drag from the experiment.
