@redsnapper1959 don t know , this strange effect stood 35 weeks in de charts ( holland ) and many weeks at nr 2 before it jumps to the top for 3 weeks , in the charts all time it s in the top 5 , but i have no information about sellings records .I have a lot of books about charts , but none of them tells about sellings records .
i was a dj on a local radiostaion , so i must have informations about the songs i played .

I suspect it got huge airplay on the likes of Radio Caroline and Big L at the time.

@walter4092 Actually, on closer inspection, this record DID reach #22 in the UK's NME singles chart, but "officially" it didn't chart (i.e. missed the Record Retailer Top 50, the basis for the official chart books here in the UK). Wasn't "This Strange Effect" one of the biggest selling 60s singles in Holland?

I used to have this on a Dutch compilation CD that had hits spanning from the late 1950s to the early 1980s...

Heard " strange effect" today and remembering the lyrics found David Berry on the web and a wonderful video shot in Holland in the mid 60's
Top flight 60's pop
Why isn't he more celebrated?

heerlijk stukje jeugdsentiment. het is uit mijn schooltijd.

Dave's UK follow-up to "This Strange Effect" . . . released around November 1965 and never charted.
I have this 45 rpm single, however thanks for posting.
