Note: oh, i realize Full House came out in the late 80's, but it didn't take off until the 90's...there was a reason for that.

Uhh the early 90's was far more cheesy and fake than the 80's, it's almost like the creativity went away and all that was left was the cheese.
How fake and contrived was Full House/Family Matters compared to The Cosby Show?
In general the media reflects society. The 80's was more idealistic and it is reflected in the media of the time. Today is more cynical, therefore THAT is reflected in the media. If you want proof, look at the sales of anti-depressants today.
