So I have a story....

It's my last week working at MMW. The place is deserted.

Other than the few souls that are to remain through the winter, it's down to but a handful of faces. All alone, but for the distant chatter of a keyboard, it's quiet, and cold, and dark. I ruffle through the last of the dub requests. The archives vault will be closed up soon, my only hope that those destined to reopen it show more care than it's been shown in the past. That some semblance of a legacy might endure, a slight trace of my presence and my work..

What's this? A dub request from an actor.. She wants all the raw footage in which she appears..

The dates of the classes she participated in are listed and my new system allows me to locate the class' tapes pretty quickly, but alas, though they may be labeled by date and class, only about half explain their content.

Well it's about a half dozen tapes I'll have to watch through, might as well get going..

As I watch each tape, and determine what's on it, I remark how this is almost certainly the last time this footage will be viewed by human eyes. Then back into the abyss it shall go, kept for the sake of posterity, until the bureaucracy decides to store it in the Alien House basement. It's imminent destruction at hand.

I have found the footage she desires, but one tape remains. Let it not be said that I wasn't thorough..

I insert the mysterious tape, and watch as revelation unfolds..

What must it be like to discover an unpublished masterpiece in the old attic of C.S. Lewis? To dust off an Orson Welles' cut in a debunked studio's warehouse? To feel the shock, as metal hits something other than sand and stone, and to lift from the earth the dead sea scrolls..?
