I think there is quite a lot beyond "entertaining" going on here. I don't think this is existentialist either, it is about simply existing. I really think this is very much beyond film school experimentalism as well. There are films out there which push a message button or pretend. This is not one of them.
This is a Vermeer: composition, stillness (except there is movement) quite extraordinary. The director and camera are inspired. The actor is a miracle. The unsuccessful attempt to calm the baby is heartbreaking
