Now we present a solo by Billy McComiskey, the proud owner of the grey Paolo Soprani accordion formerly played by the late Séan McGlynn. Billy had it specially reconstructed with reeds fitted by Martin Connolly, manufacturer of the very popular "Kincora" accordion. Billy plays two reels: "The Man of the House" and "The Rainy Day."

Gotta say, he doesn't just play the song well - he feels the song well - as well. I just bought my first Paolo Soprani button accordion. The makers of these seemed to take a special dedication and standard in these instruments.

I've just bought a red Paolo Soprani needing work, I want to replace the reeds with B/C tuning. Anyone know where you can get quality reeds in the UK?

Paolo Sopranis are classed as either red, or 'grey', even though there are many shades. It's like horses, a pure white horse is still classed as a 'grey'.

The celluloid on the accordion itself is grey, this particular instrument has just darkened with age (also the lighting makes it look darker).
