The Gemini CDS Test

After boatloads of speculation and rumors about the Gemini CDS system hacking into or exploiting a residents computer I decided to give it an actual fully recorded test.

Using two computers, one "clean" and one "dirty" I would log on and access a Sim protected by the CDS system. The "clean" computer was the control, where as the "dirty" computer was the actual test. Having installed on it the SL 1.23 client, Neillife, Emerald Meercat, and the Beta version if CDS were to scan my system surely it would detect Neillife and instaban and blacklist me.

In the end the rumors and speculation about CDS hacking into or otherwise exploiting a users PC is completely false. The Gemini CDS remains to be the best product on the market to detect and ban pond-scum using an illegal client to steal content.

Do the test again on the 2nd computer....but this time use the Neil life in a safe area where there isn't a CDS system.....just so that its files have sort of registered usage. Log out......and repeat the 2nd test.

Yeah I did in fact log on with Neillife prior to running the second test because I thought of that exact thing. It just isn't shown here, but it is worth mentioning.

SL is big-brother coated enough. It doesn't need these candy-ass picking schemes running around in it's place either. Sim-Wide Bans are idiotic, as land-owners have a tendency to "throw out" those they don't like. So then customers can never reach your stores because of a quaky excuse of a merchant who decides to put them on these ban-lists, and now their global.

Complete and utter stupidity. People buy your shit because they want to, not because they have to. Get a REAL patent/license.

Desperate and stupid at the same time. Let all the 3rd party software operate "innocently" on your lands, unknowing the mechanics behind it and the random idiot who poses a false solution. Red-Zone CDS, back to CDS. Get a REAL company and not some guy looking to make money off retards who fall for these obvious price-tagged schemes. Who knows whats lurking in those codes and your running it!

I got banned unfairly without a warning, and it's been over a week and still have not heard anything since i had appealed it. They need to find a way to fairly warn people on second life or not have 3rd party idiots to create such bogus big brother acting software. I might cancel my premium SL account because it's not worth paying 9.99 a month when you are banned unfairly from places. I've had it with this skanky ass game!

also, delete ALL your SL stuff at %appdata% and the cache manualy. log into a cds region get the tooltip that media started playing. do this a few times. you will get that message. but you have not enabled media cause it ask you if it shuld enabled. another thing is the maker can put anyone on the list. if you annoy Skills you are on the list....

1.) Install illegal viewer, log into it with account A, go to CDS sim to get account A blacklisted

2.) Log out from illegal viewer, log in with (clean) account B, go to CDS sim?

(while on the same computer)

I don't have access to an illegal viewer, but I suggest that whoever runs the above test do it

a.) By getting a new ip (reset modem) between 1.) and 2.)

b) By keeping the same ip (check it!) for the whole test

easy test, try to login with an account that has been backlisted on your pc and logout log into the clean account and try to go there, BAN. so it scans your HDD this can be abused faggots
