WAUKESHA, Wis. -- A Brookfield man, accused killing his girlfriend and enlisting his mother's help to dispose of her body, has been charged with two felonies.

Brandon Mueller, 36, was charged Wednesday with first-degree intentional homicide and mutilating a corpse. His cash bond was set at $1 million.
Renee Redmer, a 28-year-old a mother of two, was last seen with her boyfriend on Jan. 5. She was reported missing eight days later. Her family said they suspected foul play after her disappearance.
Redmer had a history of drug abuse and was facing cocaine possession charges when she went missing.
Investigators said that Redmer started dating a new boyfriend last fall and that trouble started soon after.
Officers were called to her home at one point in response to a report of a woman screaming. Redmer was arrested after she told police that she and her boyfriend had used crack cocaine.
No one answered the door when 12 News stopped by just hours after prosecutors said they had found Redmer's whereabouts.
"Unfortunately, we came up with the worst news possible, which is Renee Redmer has been killed," Fond du Lac District attorney Dan Kaminsky said.
Prosecutors said Brandon Miller told a friend he'd strangled Renee and that they'd arrested Miller's mother and her friend as accomplices.

"They attempted to conceal their crime by destroying the body," Kaminsky said.
According to police, Nancy Pinno helped Miller pack Redmer's body into a cooler and took it to a friend's rural home.
Investigators said Donnie Worth helped Miller burn the body in a burn barrel and drive the remains to Lake Winnebago. The man allegedly drilled holes in the ice and dumped the remains.

"We're also talking about remains in the form of ashes," Kaminsky said.
In June, the investigation led to a task force being assembled and two search warrants were served in the Fond Du Lac area. Two arrests were made on July 10 and 11.
Last week, investigators found what appeared to be human remains in a burn barrel. A forensic anthropologist confirmed their suspicions.
"When the bone fragments were identified as that of a human female of petite stature, that is what precipitated the arrests," Kaminsky said.
Investigators said DNA analysis is ongoing to confirm the remains are Redmer's.
Waukesha police said they expect the two people to be charged this week.
Her family met with police Monday night to get information about the case before it was released to the public on Tuesday morning. The victim's mother told 12 News that she's not ready to talk about the case.
