The Falls curfew took place on July 3-5 1970. Four civilians were shot dead by the British army and one killed by an armoured car. Three hundred people were arrested without any charges against them. All males between the ages of 18 and 30 were arrested merely for living in the area. Those living in the Nationalist Falls Road area of Belfast were subjugated to mandatory curfew. Anyone out past dusk were shot on site by brit troops. Men, women, and children were all targets of british violence.

  • The Brit soldiers ran amock during the illegal curfew, smashing elderly women's windows, raiding homes and wrecking them. They assaulted women, men and children, wantonly and maliciously smashing religious statues and holy relics, laughing as they terrorised the people of the Falls.

On 5th July, the women of the district left their homes, and despite being threatened and manhandled, they went about their business. The Brits even threatened to open fire. That was the curfew ended.
