Ukrainians on the World Stage

STORY:
Here in Kyiv the brother of the country's president, Petro Yuschenko, has more than two thousand portraits of famous Ukrainians over the past two millenia from the Kievan Russia era up to the present day.

The main goal of the exhibition is to showcase some of the world's most famous people who have Ukrainian roots. Among them are Dustin Hofman, David Copperfield, Milla Jovovich and Steven Spielberg.

Ivan Boryshko sent his handprints in from Japan specially for the exhibition.

Portraits of American education secretary Margaret Spelling, and Thai princess Katerina Desnitskaya can also be found here.

Anatoliya Batrukh is a Ukrainian living in Switzerland. She is an average every day girl but according to Petro Yuschenko - she is also a creator of the world's history because she has Ukrainian roots. That's why she is also on one of the portraits.

"For me it was very interesting to touch to my roots. And to learn about all this famous people. Many people don't know Ukraine, but via the famous people they can learn about that."

The central exhibition center wasn't big enough to house all the portraits. About a thousand of them are now held in the store rooms.
