Well
after her treatments, things didn't go as we hoped. She was ok the first few times I rode her, then started reacting to me getting on her by rearing, vertically, several times in a row as soon as I sat on her.

We had her looked again and she's physically fine. She's going away for schooling in the next week or so. If this doesn't work...thats it I'm afraid, we'll have reached the end of the road :(

I don't want to, but I have to face the facts. Professionals have turned down working with her because she's too dangerous, my mum doesn't want me on her anymore, I've lost my nerve and she is lethal. As my video shows, she has no issues with going right over, and proceeded to rear, vertically, 5 minutes after so it hasn't taught her any self preservation.

Retiring her would shatter me, absolutely break me. But unfortunately, if this doesn't work, there's nothing we havn't tried. Its a killer of a decision to make.

However, even if she does get retired, she has a home with me for life as an oversized puppy. She will never be sold.

  • I just feel that she has been ''sickened'' somehow by jumping and schooling..her whole body language is like ''no! i hate this!''-if she is fine with just hacking, leave it at that. a horse I knew loathed jumping..but was once good at it..turned out she had a spinal injury. just hacking out she was fine.

  • If you watch more recent videos, she was in a LOT of pain, finally discovered it after having her looked at by literially 10-15 different people over the years. She wouldn't hack either in the end, just in too much pain. Once the pain was sorted, she was reschooled in Monty Roberts methods and now she's fine. Not perfect, she never will be, been through too much but generally hacks and schools nicely, doing her first competition in over 2 years at the end of the month (just on the yard though)

  • doesnt she have problems with her back?did you ever here of the term kissing spines?

  • We looked into kissing spines but it wasn't that. It turned out to be an old injury causing very severe neck spasms. If only one of all the experts who looked at her found it before, she might be a very different horse now.

But she's going well, and we're enjoying each other so can't complain :)

  • so whats the update now is she riding or retired??? sorry im so late!! :D i pray for you all!

  • I neeeed to get another video up lol

she's doing fab. She went to bootcamp and I went and trained with her every week, she's now been home for a couple of months and doing really well. We're mainly hacking at the moment - she was going fantastic in the school, with talk of hunting and competing already, but then we had a set back and she doesn't really seem to be interested what so ever in going in the school and plays up when I try...but hacking at the moment she's just superb xx

  • shes cute how big is she and what breed youve done amazingly with her :) x

  • I would try switching her discipline. It's worth a try.. : )

  • have you ever thought of getting a specialist in? maybe someone that deals with their backs? she could have a back problem? or maybe its the tack? im not sure, but dont give up! theres always a reason! :)

  • you can see in this video it was a spasm watch her when you go to lead her as she shakes her head

  • That looks so scary! I'm training my horse in a dually too.

  • Just read this and see you tried the natural work like suggested in the video I posted on just a second a go. Thats brillaint that she's responded to it. You are doing a great job:)

  • @beautifullace Pain is often at the root of many ''misbehaviours'', as it is the only way they can say ''F8ck i hurt''-and having had a spinal injury/op myself, I have massive sympathy with horses-if someone so much as touched my spine, I would want to scream in agony, [and did, on occasion, if knocked in a crowded shop] .trouble is, diagnostic tools for horses[MRI scans] may not exist, due to the size of the animal, but damage shows up so well that way.

  • I wish you the very best of luck with Lacey, she looks beautiful and you obviously love her. Don't pay notice to people picking bones about what you have done and what you've not, it's easy to judge from behind your keyboard. Keep us updated with yours and Lacey's progress and again I wish you all the luck in the world.xxxxxx
