No doubt this state-of-the-art computer project will become old technology in just a year or two after I post this video. Nevertheless, at the time of this recording a 64 bit system, with 16 gb of RAM and 1.5 tb SATA hard drives was pretty fancy stuff! In this segment I demonstrate how the hard drive is physically installed in the case. At the time I was especially impressed with all the great fans and air movement in the Antec case - I suspect enhanced airflow will be the standard in future computers. Oh, although I installed a 700 Watt power supply I doubt it'll ever run at full capacity because I'm not a gamer - not yet, anyway!

Here's my personal web page about computers in general:

  • I have been building computers since I was about 13, and now I am 28. Out of all the computers I have built, I have not once used a ESD strap. But I always make sure I touch the bare metal of the case before I start tinkering, and I have yet to fry anything.

But on the other hand I am jealous, I want 3TB in my Tempest case!

Thanks for the info - I think you're right about the strap as long bare metal is touched on the case as you suggest.

  • @s3cur17y

Thanks for the info! I think you're right about the ESD strap as long as the person doing the work is very careful, etc.

  • i am 13 is it hard to put together a computer from the ground up?

  • @FuriousStacks

I'm 54 so I have less skill than a 13 year old! Doesn't seem very hard to build a computer from the ground up as long as you double-check the compatibility of all the boards and parts you're going to use. They're getting better and better at making different manufactured parts work with each other so just check with the stores you're dealing with any you'll be fine. Best of luck and let us know how it went for you!

Excellent - I'm glad it was of some help!

  • @FuriousStacks no, today its very easy... i always "like" those people who say to me that they have more computer skills just because they have enough money to buy a better pc than me... to assemble a pc it not difficult... to build my pc, i didn´t have to set a single jumper, hard drives, add in cards and other parts just work when you plug them in your motherboard

  • 16 gig is 31.25 times more then this crappy pc here(0)_(0)

  • lol nice can i have your old computer you wont be needing it haha 16 gb of ram is like 4 times mine.

  • The newer DDR3 is good up to 16 gb
