Just beautiful. TCM does such a good job on these tribute videos. I wish the tribute videos done for the Oscars were this good.

The people in this video who we know, and remember for what they gave to us, are a reminder of what we all must expect, an end to joy, sadness, laughter and love. Tell the ones you care about how much they are apart of your life, for as the old refrain says " We Past This Way Only Once".

I've watched like four of these in a row. I'm all depressed now... :P

They forgot Ivan Dixon (A Raisin in the Sun)

I love how TCM's year-end memorials are always beautiful, stand-alone music videos. But of course it's impossible not to watch these and begin to cry midway through. Beautifully done.

For some reason this tribute touches me more than any of the other TCM farewells before or since. Not sure why, may have something to do with the strange, poignant symmetry of Paul Newman and Heath Ledger passing in the same year; that and Marpessa Dawn and Breno Mello, the beautiful co-stars of the unforgettable classic "Black Orpheus", dying of heart failure mere weeks apart. And the song--Joe Henry's stately, mournful elegy.

This song, I've decided will be sung at my funeral...not intending to depress anyone, only to uplift...just a divine & tender melody.

Michael Kidd, Cyd Charisse, Mel Ferrer, Suzanne Pleshette, Harvey Korman, and Paul Newman. What a horrible year.
